Each year, CHRO hosts a Civil Rights Youth Summit Attorney Pipeline Program, typically held at the University of Connecticut School of Law. The program helps 8th grade and high school students explore careers in public interest law and social justice. Prepare for a future in law by meeting with civil rights attorneys and other advocates to learn the pathways to a rewarding career.
In 2025, the Youth Summit drew over 200 students from all over the state to participate. In its second year, we intend to build on that success. We will cover impactful cases in the fields of civil rights, criminal justice, environmental law and educational equity. The Summit will also feature a mock law school class, an immigration panel, disability rights panel, and LGBTQIA+ rights panel. Students will connect with judges, lawyers, investigators, and admissions representatives, and be able to go on guided tours of the law school.
The Youth Summit is expected to be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Be on the lookout for registration, coming soon!
