Attorney General Tong Urges Congress to Adopt New Consumer Protections to Protect Airline Industry Customers
Attorney General William Tong and a bipartisan coalition of 40 attorneys general, led by Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, yesterday sent a letter urging Congress to enact new consumer protection measures for airline industry customers as part of or in connection with any further financial relief package provided to the airline industry.

AG Tong Urges U.S. Department of Education to Rescind Title IX Enforcement Threat in Light of SCOTUS Decision
Attorney General William Tong today sent a letter urging that the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights withdraw its “Letter of Impending Enforcement” targeting the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and several Connecticut municipalities in light of the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County affirming that federal civil rights law prohibits discrimination against transgender people.

AG Tong Calls On Eversource to Forgo 2021 Rate Hike
In video testimony submitted to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority today, Attorney General William Tong called on Eversource to forgo its planned 2021 rate hike request and commit to real cost saving measures for consumers. The comments were submitted as part of PURA’s hearing and investigation into the “unjustifiable and unsustainable” delivery charge hike that contributed to major increases in electricity bills in the midst of a global pandemic and unusually hot summer. In addition to this summer’s delivery charge hike, Eversource plans to ask PURA for a rate hike in mid-2021.
