Attorney General Tong Statement Regarding Vision Solar Bankruptcy Filing
Attorney General William Tong today announced that Vision Solar LLC filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection on December 28, 2023. Attorney General Tong sued Vision Solar LLC in March 2023, after an investigation in coordination with the Department of Consumer Protection exposed Vision’s use of high-pressure sales tactics, misrepresentations, delays, and unpermitted work.

Attorney General Tong, Consumer Counsel Petition for State Review of Iberdrola Move to Take Avangrid Fully Private
Attorney General William Tong and Consumer Counsel Claire E. Coleman today filed a petition with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority seeking state review of the proposed acquisition by Iberdrola of all remaining shares of Avangrid. Iberdrola is a Spain-based multinational conglomerate that owns 81.6 percent of United Illuminating, Southern Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, as well as utilities in Maine, Massachusetts and New York. Iberdrola has moved to purchase all remaining shares, removing Avangrid as a publicly traded company.

Attorney General Tong, Department of Justice, States Announce Suit Against Ticketmaster-Live Nation for Monopolizing Markets Across the Live Concert Industry
Attorney General William Tong, the Justice Department, and attorneys general from 29 other states and the District of Columbia today filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster LLC and its parent company Live Nation Entertainment Inc. for monopolization and other unlawful conduct that thwarts competition in markets across the live entertainment industry.

Attorney General Tong Leads Multistate Coalition Urging Biden Administration to Implement Ban on Menthol Cigarettes and Flavored Cigars

Attorney General Tong Seeks to Ban Predatory and Deceptive Real Estate Listing Agreements Following Connecticut Investigation
Following an investigation that uncovered nearly 400 deceptive real estate agreements in Connecticut through the company MV Realty, Attorney General William Tong today urged legislators to pass legislation banning the multi-year predatory listing deals and nullifying all existing unfair contracts.

Attorney General Tong Announces $361,520 False Claims Settlement with Home Care VNA
Attorney General William Tong and Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut today announced that Home Care VNA LLC and its current and former owners, Shakira Lubega and Constant Ogutt have entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state governments in which they will pay $361,520 to resolve allegations that they were paid for home health care services that violated Medicaid regulations relating to plans of care.

Attorney General Tong Backs Rule Increasing Consumer Choice of Cellphone Providers
ttorney General William Tong is urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to pass a proposed rule to enable consumers to switch mobile service providers while keeping their existing mobile phones. If adopted, the mobile phone unlocking rule would require all providers to unlock devices within 60 days of activation in most circumstances – reducing consumer cost and confusion in the marketplace.
