Connecticut Sues to Block Illegal Conditions on Programs that Support Comprehensive Sexual Health Education
Attorney General William Tong and a coalition of 16 states and the District Columbia today sued the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to stop the Trump Administration from arbitrarily pulling funding for longstanding teen reproductive and sexual health education programs from states unless they remove language regarding gender identity.

Attorney General Tong Leads Nearly $150 Million Multistate Settlement with Mercedes-Benz USA and Mercedes-Benz AG Over Emissions Fraud
Attorney General William Tong today led a coalition of 50 attorneys general announcing a $149,673,750 settlement with Mercedes-Benz USA and Mercedes-Benz AG for violating state laws prohibiting unfair or deceptive trade practices by marketing, selling and leasing vehicles equipped with undisclosed emissions defeat devices that illegally circumvented Connecticut’s strong emissions standards.

Attorney General William Tong today joined the attorneys general of Arizona, New York, Virginia and Washington in close collaboration with the Federal Trade Commission in suing Zillow and Redfin over a $100 million anticompetitive agreement between the two rental housing listing sites that hands Zillow unfair dominance in the market and the potential to push rental prices even higher for Connecticut families.

ttorney General William Tong announced today that a federal judge has ordered the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to halt changes to its Continuum of Care grant program — the largest resource for federal homelessness assistance funding — after a coalition of states argued in court that the changes were illegal and would leave tens of thousands of people around the country without a place to live.

Attorney General Tong Announces Reduced Pension for East Haven Educator Convicted of Stealing Tuition Payments
Attorney General William Tong announced today that a Hartford Superior Court judge has ordered a partial reduction in municipal pension payments for Catherine Finkle, who was convicted in federal court in 2021 of stealing over $38,000 in tuition payments she received as the director of the Town of East Haven’s before and after-school childcare program.

Attorney General Tong Secures Preliminary Relief Blocking Medicaid Data from Being Used for Immigration Enforcement Purposes
Attorney General William Tong today issued the following statement after the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a preliminary injunction finding Connecticut and a multistate coalition were likely to succeed on their claim that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) decision to provide unfettered access to individual personal health data to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which houses Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), violated the Administrative Procedure Act’s prohibition on arbitrary and capricious rulemaking.
