Attorney General Tong Announces $3.1 Billion Settlement with Walmart over Opioid Epidemic Allegations
Attorney General William Tong today announced that Connecticut has reached a settlement with Walmart to resolve allegations that the company contributed to the opioid addiction crisis by failing to appropriately oversee the dispensing of opioids at its stores. The settlement will provide more than $3 billion nationally and will require significant improvements in how Walmart's pharmacies handle opioids. State attorneys general on the executive committee, including Connecticut, attorneys representing local governments, and Walmart have agreed to this settlement, and it is now being sent to other states for review and approval.

Attorney General Tong Announces Agreements with CVS and Walgreens Delivering $10.7 Billion to Fight Opioid Epidemic
Attorney General William Tong today announced agreements with CVS and Walgreens to deliver $10.7 billion nationwide to save lives and fight the opioid epidemic. Today’s announcement brings the total recovered from investigations and litigation against the pharmaceutical addiction industry to more than $50 billion. Connecticut will receive about $127 million from these latest settlements, bringing the state’s total recovery to over $600 million, which will be used to support opioid abuse treatment and prevention.

Attorney General Tong Works to Stop International Scam Calls
Attorney General William Tong today urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to put in place measures that will help stem the tide of foreign-based illegal robocalls that attempt to scam Americans. Today’s comment letter to the FCC was led by North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

Attorney General Tong Joins Coalition of 22 Attorneys General Backing States' Ability to Enforce their Constitutions to Ensure Free and Fair Elections
Attorney General William Tong this week joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a friend of the court brief in Moore v. Harper, a case in which the U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether to adopt the radical “independent state legislature theory” (ISLT) and give state legislators the sole, unchecked authority to make election rules at the expense of voters and other state institutions.

Attorney General Tong Helps Secure New Federal Energy Standards for American Families
Attorney General William Tong today announced an agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) committing DOE to a new timetable for updating energy efficiency standards for 20 categories of common consumer products and commercial equipment. The impacted products and equipment range from residential furnaces to laundry machines to electric motors.

Attorney General Tong Announces $4.8 Million Settlement With Redwood Toxicology Laboratory
Attorney General William Tong, U.S. Attorney Leonard C. Boyle, and Special Agent in Charge Phillip Coyne of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General announced today that Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, Inc. has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state governments in which it will pay nearly $4.8 million to resolve allegations it overcharged the Connecticut Medicaid program for certain laboratory services.
