ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG AND COALITION FILE BRIEF IN CENSUS CASE CHALLENGING TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S ATTEMPT TO ADD CITIZENSHIP QUESTION TO THE 2020 CENSUS
Attorney General William Tong and a coalition of 18 states, 16 local governments, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, led by New York, filed a merits brief in the United States Supreme Court in the case challenging the Trump Administration’s attempt to add a question about citizenship to the 2020 Census. CONNECTICUT JOINS MULTISTATE CHALLENGE TO TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ROLLBACK OF ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT REGULATIONS
Attorney General William Tong announced Connecticut has joined with 16 other states, the District of Colombia and the City of New York to challenge the Trump Administration's rollback of the regulations implementing the Endangered Species Act.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG TAKES ON FIGHT FOR GUN SAFETY AT U.S. SUPREME COURT
Attorney General William Tong today joined a multistate coalition fighting to ensure that New York’s independence and sovereignty—along with the rights of all states and municipalities-- are protected in its effort to implement commonsense gun safety regulations. In an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court last night, Connecticut joined a coalition of 13 Attorneys General seeking to uphold that the right of states and localities to impose certain types of firearm regulations when they are substantially related to an important government objective, such as the protection of their citizens.

Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general and New York City in support of a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration's Health Insurance Proclamation that would simultaneously slash legal immigration and destabilize health exchanges established under the Affordable Care Act.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG CONTINUES FIGHT TO PROTECT THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, JOINS COALITION OF 21 ATTORNEYS GENERAL CHALLENGING BASELESS ATTACKS ON AFFORDABLE CARE ACT
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition 20 states and the District of Columbia led by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in filing a response in Texas v. U.S., defending the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the healthcare of tens of millions of Americans. Today’s brief, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, argues that every provision of the ACA remains valid. It further argues that the position taken by the Trump Administration and the Texas-led coalition is legally incorrect and dangerous to our healthcare system.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG JOINS 31 ATTORNEYS GENERAL IN SIGNING MULTI-STATE LETTER SUPPORTING FTC IDENTITY THEFT RULES
Attorney General William Tong today joined 31 other attorneys general in sending a letter to the Federal Trade Commission urging the FTC to continue its Identity Theft Rules, which were initially adopted in November 2007.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG, SECRETARY OF STATE MERRILL ISSUE ALERT REGARDING ILLEGITIMATE BUSINESS MAILING
Attorney General William Tong and Secretary of the State Denise Merrill are alerting Connecticut businesses about a mailing from a company calling itself CT Certificate Service. The mailing suggests that Connecticut businesses must pay a fee of $112.50 to CT Certificate Service in order to obtain copies of their "Connecticut Certificate of Existence."

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has filed an expanded, amended lawsuit against Purdue Pharma, members of the Sackler family, former members of Purdue's Board of Directors and corporate executives, and Sackler-controlled companies alleging fraudulent transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars from Purdue Pharma to the Sacklers to evade liability and accountability to Connecticut victims of the opioid epidemic.
