Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation Protecting LGBTQ Youth from the Destructive and Discredited Practice of Conversion Therapy
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy this evening signed into law legislation that will protect LGBTQ youth in the state from the destructive and discredited practice of conversion therapy. The so-called treatment, which seeks to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, has been discredited by nearly every credible medical and psychiatric group in the country and oftentimes includes destructive practices that are harmful to children, such as electric shock therapy.

Gov. Malloy Reminds Connecticut Residents the Deadline to Apply for Home Heating Assistance is May 1
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today is reminding Connecticut residents who need help paying their home heating bills for the 2016-2017 winter season that there is still time to apply for assistance under the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program. The general deadline for applications is May 1, 2017, however eligible households that are subject to a shut-off notice by a utility for heating bills have an extended deadline of May 15.

On Tuesday morning, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman will tour the Hockanum Mill development. With state and federal investment and a partnership with the Town of Vernon, the project will remediate a brownfield and restore 10 existing structures to create 150,000 square feet of commercial and industrial space in Vernon.

Wentzell today announced the release of a new state guide that provides a framework for local and regional school districts to develop a strategic plan and implement interventions that will lead to the reduction of chronic absenteeism among students in pre-K through Grade 12.

LT. GOV. WYMAN ANNOUNCES $400,000 FOR TOLLAND COUNTY MUTUAL FIRE SERVICE ON STATE BOND COMMISSION AGENDA
Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that the State Bond Commission, chaired by Governor Dannel P. Malloy, is expected to support a $400,000 bond item for the Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service to upgrade their radio dispatch system.
