Established in 2001, Operation ELF offers assistance throughout the year to families facing the financial strain of active duty.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are urging the U.S. House of Representatives to reject the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, which is currently pending before Congress and would allow more dangerous criminals and untrained individuals to carry loaded, hidden guns in public places by forcing states with strong concealed carry laws to honor permits from states with weak or non-existent standards.

Governor Nancy Wyman and Major General Thad Martin, Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard, today joined military families from across the state at the 16th annual Operation ELF (Embracing Lonely Families) holiday party. Established in 2001, Operation ELF helps lessen the financial stresses facing military families who are called to active duty and are in the deployment cycle.

Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded two competitive, federal grants worth $2.6 million that will assist in the state’s efforts to improve the processing and testing of sexual assault evidence kits. The grants come to the state as part of the ongoing work of the Governor’s Sexual Assault Kit Working Group, which Governor Malloy formed in 2016 to assist in the standardization and advancement in testing evidence kits by the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory.
