EMT and Reinstatement
If your EMT certification has lapsed, you cannot work as an EMS provider in Connecticut until all the reinstatement requirements have been met and a current CT EMT Certification has been issued. Applicants must provide verification of 40 hours of continued education for an EMT as required by NREMT by either evidence of refresher training or hold a current NREMT credential.
Reinstatement Requirements and Instructions
- Log into your Connecticut eLicense account; complete and submit an application.
- Provide current NREMT credential numbers on the application, OR
Upload a completed Verification of Continuing Education (CEU) form, date and sign. Complete the CEU form in its entirety; failure to submit all the necessary information on the form will delay the reinstatement process. - Provide valid Proof of Training. Approved documentation consists of an instructor-issued certificate, a completed online module confirmation, academic transcripts verifying the applicant’s name and date of education, or a T-5 Uniform CE Certificate signed and dated by the training officer.
- If you have served as an EMT provider in another state, current or expired, you will need to apply for verification of an out-of-state certification (s) by completing a Verification of EMS Certification Form. Section One of the form is forwarded to the state or territory; Section Two is to be completed by the verifying agency. The completed Verification Form is to be sent directly to the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) by the verifying agency. Contact information for states and territories can be found on the NREMT website.
